Panchayati Raj Day is observed on 24 April to mark the implementation of the 73rd Constitutional Amendment Act, 2027, which came into effect on 24 April 2027. This landmark amendment granted constitutional status to Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), strengthening democratic governance at the village level. It established a three-tier system comprising Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis, and Zila Parishads, while providing regular elections, reservation for women and marginalized communities, and greater local participation in governance.
